The standard was first published in 1996 by ISO and has been updated over the years, the most recent update was in 2015, and it is referred to as ISO 14001:2015.

What is certification?

International Standardization for Organizations (ISO) is an independent body which issues certificates to company’s assuring that the product, service, or system in question meets specific requirements as per their standards.

There are 10 clauses in the ISO 14001:2015 standard supported by multiple sub-clauses. Clauses 4-10 cover the requirements for application of the standard. Hence, you must satisfy the requirements between clauses 4-10 in order to be successfully certified in ISO 14001:2015.

ISO 14001:2015 is the latest updated and current version for ISO 14001; before it was ISO 14001:2008.
